Volvo is preparing to release the XC100

Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7 will finally get a worthy rival. The Volvo XC100 will be the new peak in the range in the Swedish automaker's SUV family. Volvo is working on the XC100, a model with which it hopes to conquer the American market, where SUVs with impressive scales such as the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator are taking positions. In the Old World, the XC100 will be a rival to the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS.

Most likely, the Volvo XC100 will take on the minimalist design elements of smaller SUVs, but on a different scale that match the car's generous proportions. Thus, we will see on the future model headlights with a bright design characteristic of the brand, a large-sized grille and an angular silhouette.

An updated version of the SPA platform (Scalable Product Architecture) will be installed on the basis of the giant SUV. The model will be approximately 178 mm longer and 127 mm wider than the current XC90, resulting in more interior space. Depending on the selected configuration, the XC100 can also receive three rows of seats, five, six or seven seats.

The model can enter production only in 2023. It will appear in the line soon after the launch and an electric version, which is an important step in the electrification strategy of the Swedish Builder, which hopes that by 2025, 50% of units sold will be electric.
